Venn Diagram - Sorting (K1 - K2)

Recommended age group
4 to 5 year old

Materials required
2 different coloured hoops
Photographs of children

Subject
Math

Objective
We were exposing the children to Venn diagrams and sorting. Personally, I feel that Venn diagrams can be slightly complicated for some 4 year olds. However, using their photographs is a great way to hold their attention and provides personalized introduction into the new Math concept.

Activity
The children were given options on their favourite food, apples, pears or both. The center portion were obviously those who liked both. Each child were given a chance to choos between the 3 given options and after which, they placed their photos on the correct areas.

From Ideas For Skul
I made use of the abundant wall space by this inspiring quote.
I was getting slightly annoyed at the students for their negative comments when stuck at a certain task.
Therefore, the objective of the decorating the wall space with this quote was to motivate, motivate, motivate and motivate.
And it worked!

Paper Tearing - Pre-K

Recommended age group
3 year old

Materials required
Contact paper
Different coloured tissue paper
Ice-cream stick (The wide ones)

Activity
Due to the simplicity of the activity, it is probably not recommended for the older age group.

The Pre-K children were required to tear tissue paper and stick them onto the contact paper.

Tearing proved to be a pretty challenging for the little ones so this activity is a great way to improve on their fine motor skills.

I decided to transform the finished product into butterfly wings in order to coincide with our Garden theme.

From Ideas For Skul

In fact, we transformed our display board into our very own pretend butterfly garden.
